Getting to the Island of Bryher

Getting to Bryher is all part of the adventure…

The Isles of Scilly are far enough from the mainland to feel a world apart but close enough that we don’t feel a world away.

Fly fixed-wing with Skybus from Cornwall or Devon, or take the helicopter or passenger ferry from Penzance – there’s an option for everyone, depending on your travel preference and budget.

Once you’ve booked your travel, please let us know so we know when to expect you. We’ll also let Tresco Boats know your travel details so they can arrange your onward transfer to Bryher. Please call them on 01720 423373 the afternoon before arrival to check your boat time. Wherever possible this will be on a scheduled boat, but if you’re travelling early or late in the day this may be a special.

Please let us know your boat time when you know it so we can be on the quay to meet you!

By Air: Skybus

Skybus flies to the main island of St Mary’s from Land’s End and Newquay Airports in Cornwall (year round) and Exeter Airport in Devon (summer only).

The journey takes just 20 minutes from Land’s End, 30 minutes from Newquay and an hour from Exeter. You’ll fly aboard a small, 19-seater aircraft and be able to watch the pilot at work! Dogs are welcome onboard, too.

On arrival at St Mary’s Airport, take the shuttle bus to the quay for your boat to Bryher at the time given by Tresco Boats. We’ll meet you on Bryher!

By Sea: Scillonian III

Sail from Penzance, Cornwall aboard Scillonian III for the cheapest and most reliable way of travelling to the islands. The Scillonian makes the crossing daily (except Sundays).

The journey takes around two and three quarter hours. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, a café, WiFi, and dogs are welcome. It can be a lovely crossing in good weather (try and spot dolphins!) but it can be less pleasant in rough seas.

Make sure your luggage is well labelled using green Bryher labels (available at Penzance Quay). On arrival on St Mary’s, your luggage will be transferred automatically to Firethorn, which usually leaves around 1pm. We’ll meet you on Bryher!

By Air: Penzance Helicopters

The newest way to get to the islands is with Penzance Helicopters – the fastest way to reach the islands.

Fly to either the main island of St Mary’s or our neighbouring island of Tresco direct from Penzance Heliport in 15 minutes, flying all year round. The heliport is located just on the outskirts of Penzance with a shuttle bus from the station and plenty of on-site parking.

On arrival at St Mary’s Airport or Tresco Heliport, take the shuttle bus to the quay for your boat to Bryher at the time given by Tresco Boats. We’ll meet you on Bryher!
